The SAB Foundation Family and Friends Walkathon is a health walk event that enables individuals, their families, and friends to walk for health and raise funds for a worthy cause. Families and their friends come to walk for a designated cause and raise money to support the education of brilliant but needy children all across the world. The 2024 event will be held in New York.  

 

The SAB Foundation Family and Friends Walkathon will be telecast live on TV and online. It will provide an opportunity for individuals, their families, and friends to come together and contribute to a worthy cause while keeping themselves healthy and strengthening their family bond. Funds raised will be used globally to sponsor high school students from deprived schools to further their college education. Participants have a goal of raising $5 million to meet the needs of these deprived schools and students.

 

The SAB Foundation Family and Friends Walkathon promotes a healthy relationship among families and friends, giving them an avenue to keep fit, have lots of fun, and contribute to making the world a better place.

Individuals, their families, and friends are eligible to participate in the SAB Foundation Family and Friends Walkathon. Individual participants will be grouped with other families to form walking teams on the event day.

Interested families (regardless of size) of the SAB Foundation Family and Friends Walkathon are to pay a registration fee of $40. Individuals get to pay $20 to participate. All registration fees will be donated to charity after tax deduction, according to 501(c)(3).

• Health Walk
This is to meet the physical needs of our participants due to the sedentary nature of work.
• Aerobics.
• Games include soccer, tug of peace, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, and indoor games.
• Activities for kids include bouncy castle, trampoline, and face painting.

• Create Facebook account, Twitter, and Instagram page to create awareness and hype the event.
• Newspaper advertisement to attract the target market.
• Radio and TV advert.
• Print artwork on banners.
• Flyers to be distributed.
• Create a blog on the website where participants can be updated.
• Printed materials such as T-shirts for awareness creation of the health walk.

Through partnership, a well-known public figure will be featured in the advert. We will identify organizations that are willing to partner and sponsor the event. These sponsors and partners can help in spreading and making the event a success.
Invitation letters will be given to dignitaries who will grace the occasion. Reminders via email will be sent some days before the event.


Organizers
Individual roles will be assigned to team members. This will help create a system of accountability.

Families that prefer to walk in their community can register as virtual walkers. They get to choose a suitable date. They will have access to fundraising resources and merchandise. Each family will be assigned a deadline to complete their walk. They will be rewarded a medal on completion when they upload images of their finishing date and time on their social media platforms and our Facebook pages for verification.
 
Participants can kickstart their walk training with our training resources. They can order our Walk Starter Kit and Walk Kid's Starter Kit which will provide them with supplies to optimize their virtual walk experience. Check back here for additional information and resources.
 
On the walk day, participants aged 18 and above have to raise a minimum of $100 which includes a $10 registration fee. Those under 18 have a fundraising minimum of $30 which also includes a $10 registration fee. Virtual walkers are eligible to become pacesetters and earn additional rewards based on fundraising level. They can create their route and have access to virtual programming by raising $100 including a $10 registration fee ($30 for those under 18 including a $10 registration fee).
